GIS Spatial Analysis & Interpretation

From biotope mapping to sub-bottom analysis the application of geospatial analysis techniques is becoming more and more of an expected requirement for surveys and consultancy services. As experts in this field, the EMU Limited GIS team has a broad range of in-house techniques, experience and knowledge to draw upon to achieve client aims. Some of the techniques used recently include:
  • Bathymetric Comparisons – monitoring change in the seabed
  • Multi-horizon sub-seabed cross sections – cable route feasibility
  • Intertidal Biotope Mapping– combining aerial photography, survey results and Ecological expertise to create accurately mapped biotope complexes
  • Feasibility/Constraints analysis – to locate suitable sites for offshore developments e.g. windfarms
  • Classification of aerial photos in GIS to locate and map seagrass distribution/density
Using GIS for spatial interpretation adds clarity to many projects, from assessing the feasibility of cable routes to representing the impacts of environmental change.
