HYDROGRAPHY

mooringsWe specialise in the project management and execution of high resolution analogue geophysical and hydrographic surveys in the coastal environment, worldwide. Our flexible and careful approach to projects has enabled us to generate a proven track record for providing high quality products to meet  clients requirements and often to tight time lines.

Using our fleet of vessels, ensuring we own and operate the latest survey systems and using highly trained personnel has ensured that we consistently achieve high quality products.   All work is approved undertaken in accordance with our ISO 9001 accreditation.

Projects undertaken worldwide include client sectors such as oil and gas, renewable energy, aggregates, pipeline inspection, cable routes, coastal engineering and ports and harbours.

Hydrography Services

  • Hydrographic surveys including swath and single beam bathymetry
  • Sidescan Sonar Surveys
  • Sub-bottom profiling/shallow seismic surveys
  • Magnetometer and gradiometer surveys
  • Topographic surveys
  • Nearshore geotechnical studies including grab sampling, vibrocoring, cone penetration testing, box coring
  • ROV inspections
  • Detailed hydrographic surveys and ROV inspections of assets such as pipelines and cable
  • Pre-lay surveys for pipelines and cables including detailed geophysical and geotechnical surveys to determine the geological variations and any hazards likely to be encountered
  • Geophysical and geotechnical studies to aid engineering design of outfalls, bridge supports and harbour walls
  • Monitoring studies for assets such as the bases of wind turbines and harbour walls.

These survey techniques are used to determine the nature of an area of seabed and its sub-seabed geology prior to development or aggregate extraction and to monitor changes to the seabed.

Examples of projects we work on include:

  • Detailed geophysical survey for Sheringham Shoal windfarm
  • Series of pipeline surveys on the UKCS for oil industry clients
  • Various hydrographic and geophysical surveys in support of aggregate prospecting on the UK south and east coasts
  • Detailed geophysical survey for the proposed Aberdeen windfarm
  • Geophysical survey in support of a port development in southern Cyprus
  • Hydrographic surveys for biotope mapping purposes for several proposed windfarm developments off the UK east coast
  • Series of hydrographic surveys in support of a port development on the Congo river, Angola
  • Hydrographic surveys to monitor aggregate licence areas off the UK east and south coast
  • Series of hydrographic surveys in support of proposed island development, Kuwait
  • Hydrographic surveys to monitor sub-sea assets, Hong Kong
  • Geophysical and geotechnical studies for beach replenishment projects, Sri Lanka
  • Numerous bathymetric surveys to assist with coastal management on the UK south and southwest coasts
  • Series of pipeline surveys for oil industry clients on the UK west coast
  • Detailed geophysical surveys for a number of proposed windfarms and cable routes off the UK east coast
  • Geophysical, ecological and oceanographic studies to support engineering design of a proposed outfall , Gibraltar
  • Detailed geophysical surveys to support engineering design of proposed tunnels under the River Thames and its tributaries.
