
Health, Safety and Environment
The health, safety and welfare of Emu Limited employees, and any other parties who may be affected by the activities of Emu, are of prime importance and essential to the efficient operation of its services.
Emu’s health and safety management systems are based on the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, subordinate legislation and the HSE's guide to Successful Health and Safety Management (HSG65). Emu is also committed to compliance with the legislative requirements of all countries where it operates.
The company has a fundamental belief in the importance of Health, Safety and Welfare. Emu strives to maintain health, provide a safe working environment and to eliminate or control health and safety hazards by:
- Providing and maintaining safe plant, equipment, services and systems of work;
- Arranging for the safe use, handling, storage and transportation of article and substances;
- Providing such information, instruction, training and supervision to enable all employees, contractors, customers or others to avoid hazards and contribute positively to health and safety at work;
- Providing and maintaining a safe place of work, including access and egress;
- Providing a healthy working environment;
- Ensuring that other persons, including the public, are not exposed to risks to their health and safety, which results from the Company’s activities;
- Maintaining satisfactory arrangements for the participation of their employees in the development of measures for promoting health, safety and welfare at work.
