Exploring the Amazing Marine World just off our Coast Feb 2007
The amazing marine world just off our coast is just waiting to be explored through Underwater Safaris. Following an ALSF funded pilot project in partnership with the Medina Valley Centre and Sussex Sea Fisheries Committee, EMU have developed a capability for high resolution projection of underwater marine life onto a large screen for use in waterborne field study trips.
- ALSF pilot project completed in March 2006
- 3 days of UW Safari completed at a variety of locations around the Isle of Wight
- Participation by 4 schools spanning primary through to 6th form
- Video data collected and geo-referenced for use in subsequent habitat mapping
EMU are now seeking further partners within the local educational authorities, schools, colleges and universities to promote similar field trips in sheltered waters around our coasts.
