CAREERS - PhD Support
Emu's support for staff career development can be seen in its undertaking to sponsor a number of employees to further their careers through further education in the form of Masters and PHD projects such as:
Robin Newman, Principal Oceanographer, is undertaking a PHD entitled "An in mare investigation of wave measurements techniques". This is to include:
- comparison of data from a waverider buoy
- 3D current measurements
- pressure measurements and upward looking acoustics
- an investigation of the mathematical techniques used to derive surface conditions from subsurface monitoring equipment
It is anticipated that this will allow the derivation of standard approaches to the acquisition of directional wave data in various environments, and place EMU at the cutting edge of Oceanographic data collection.
