Assistant Environmental Scientist

Salary: £11,300 – 15,300 pa (+ bonus and excellent benefits)
Hours: 37.5 per week

EMU Ltd are seeking a highly self motivated individual who can deliver a high quality of work to support the development and growth of their microbiology/water quality team.

Sampling duties will include routine microbiological testing of swimming pools and recreational waters in accordance with the BSI PAS39:2003 Code of Practice and EMU UKAS accredited procedures. Your role will include carrying out sampling and on site chemical testing scheduling, co-ordination of sampling and liaison with clients on site. You will also carry out other water quality fieldwork work, including coastal waters, rivers and wastewater sampling.

In addition to field work the ideal candidate should be willing and able to learn as other duties will include carrying out laboratory microbiological analysis of environmental samples in accordance with EMU UKAS accredited procedures and helping other departments when necessary.

The role will require flexibility in working hours, excellent organisation, time management and record keeping skills and candidates should enjoy driving and have demonstrated experience in dealing with clients.

Candidates will be expected to participate in a weekend rota and will be required to hold a full UK Driving Licence.

A scientific background and previous experience of microbiology testing or swimming pool water quality management would be advantageous.

Geophysicist

Your primary responsibilities will be:

  • Providing expertise on geophysics and hydrography for a diverse range of projects and clients
  • Advising colleagues and clients on survey requirements, and developing scopes of work and technical specifications
  • Assisting with site surveys – mobilisation and data acquisition through to completion
  • Ggeophysical data processing, evaluation and interpretation, and reporting

In addition, you will be assist with developing the Group, including identifying new opportunities, Company representation and the preparation of tender documents.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced geophysicist to progress their career in a leading organisation. EMU Ltd’s Hydro Group supports clients across the sectors of oil and gas, marine renewables, aggregates, civil engineering and coastal management. The Hydro Group is growing and EMU Ltd has just added a 24m survey vessel to its fleet.

Candidates should be qualified to degree level and beyond in a relevant subject and have practical experience of coastal and marine surveys.
