Consultancy Product Manager

Job Title:  Consultancy Product Manager
Location: Durley, Southampton
Department: Consultancy

Hours: 37.5 per week

Emu Ltd is seeking a person to join its Consultancy Division as a Consultancy Product Manager to ensure project and operational delivery.

The key functions for the position will include:

  • Report and Document Formatting;
  • Maintaining and improving operational procedures relating to report and project management activities;
  • Managing day-to-day delivery of ‘monitoring reports’ for inter-departmental projects; and
  • Reference and archiving.

Formatting reports and managing the production of high quality ‘monitoring reports’ across different departments will be a major element of the role, although opportunities to diversify within the area of formatting and document control in the near future is anticipated.

The selected candidate will have overall responsibility for compiling technical reports using the Division’s report templates, ultimately managing the delivery of professional quality documents to a broad range of clients. This will include formatting word documents, collating text documents, diagrams and images from other team members and input them into standardised document templates.  Additional duties may include working with spreadsheets and databases.

The candidate is expected to be motivated, well organised and will need to coordinate a demanding workload with those of other members of the Consultancy team in order to meet important deadlines.  In-depth experience using Microsoft Word is essential, specifically, template documents, the application of text styles, tables, figures, updatable fields, cross-referencing, automated tables of contents and lists. 

An eye for detail, creativity and good presentation skills should be complimented with the ability to work to tight schedules.  Experience with other desktop publishing software, Microsoft Excel and Access applications will be beneficial but not essential.

BENTHIC TAXONOMISTS

The marine environmental and survey company, Emu Ltd has opened a new 20 000 sq. ft. facility in Portchester, near Portsmouth.  The site has been fully refurbished to meet specific laboratory, warehousing and office requirements, enabling Emu Ltd to develop and expand their capabilities with respect to the rapidly expanding marine environmental market.

Opened in January 2010 the new benthic laboratory at this site will enable Emu Ltd to significantly increase the benthic sample throughput in the forthcoming years, with bespoke sieving, sorting, analysis and storage facilities. This will enable Emu Ltd to ;meet the demanding requirements that will arise from the new round 3 wind farm developments, as well as servicing our existing client base.

To meet this new challenge we are seeking to employ new staff at all levels from highly experienced benthic taxonomists to recent graduates. Experience working within commercial labs, processing marine and estuarine samples for infaunal and epifaunal communities, from the UK and abroad, would be desirable. There will be opportunities for junior staff to be trained and more experienced staff will be expected to mentor junior staff members. All applicants will be expected to work to strict internal quality standards to enable Emu Ltd to maintain our long standing participation in the NMBAQC scheme.

The roles will include sample processing, faunal identification, data entry, staff training and the development of new capabilities. The post will primarily be laboratory based; however, there are opportunities for fieldwork, data analysis and reporting with Emu’s ecology team.

Salary is negotiable on the basis of experience. We also offer a range of benefits including a contributory pension, discretionary profit related bonus and 20 days holiday rising to 25 (excluding Bank Holidays) in an excellent working environment.

Senior IT Administrator

A vacancy exists within Emu Limited for a full-time Senior IT administrator to support the IT Manager. This position is initially based at our Head Office in Durley, Nr Southampton moving to Portchester in the near future> There will be a requirement to work from both our offices and onboard our vessels.
This role would include (but is not limited to);

  • Data storage / data lifecycle management / support using SAN technology and enterprise vault.
  • 2nd level Help desk support.
  • Project Administration and Management Support.
  • Support the IT requirement of Emu’s vessels.
  • The ability to understand data types, and manipulation of data to be compatible with other systems.

Applicants must have experience of Windows server technology and networking. Programming experience in designing, enhancing existing code, program, testing and maintaining multi user applications is essential.  Ideally, applicants will have work experience in a second level support role within a marine company, research group, consultancy or related organisation. A degree in computer science or equivalent industry qualifications would be an advantage.

Principal Consultant /Associate Director

A full-time position exists for a highly talented and professional individual to join our Consultancy department. The ideal candidate will be qualified to degree/Masters level with at least 8 years experience in a coastal and marine discipline. They should have good awareness of consultancy work beyond their own discipline; bring expertise in coastal and marine markets; ability to help develop the team’s technical marine-based expertise, and a proven experience of developing and implementing successful environmental solutions.

Excellent project management and people management experience is required to handle large multidisciplinary and high profile projects. The candidate should be able to quickly develop successful client relationships along with excellent communications skills (both written and verbal). They need to demonstrate strong commercial awareness and be meticulous in their approach to work. A proven track record in project delivery is considered essential.
