Example: Regional Environmental Assessments Marine Consultancy services
Marine Aggregates Regional Environmental Assessments (MAREAs) are a voluntary initiative introduced by the UK Marine Aggregate dredging industry in 2003. MAREAs are designed to provide a regional context and background information to individual license applications and EIAs within dredging areas. EMU is currently responsible for the development and delivery of MAREAs for both the South Coast and East Coast of England.
MAREAs represent best practise in the management of the marine environment as a tool used to assess marine aggregate extraction in coastal and offshore waters. EMU can provide a specialised and integrated team of marine consultants experts in environmental impact assessment, particularly cumulative and in-combination impacts and over 10 years of industry experience. Using EMU’s in-house technical expertise and specialised conceptual impact assessment techniques, the process Regional Environmental Assessments can be applied to all marine sectors both within the UK and abroad.

Example: Cable route planning Marine Consultancy services
Our marine consultants work alongside geotechnical experts and cable installation specialists at every stage of the cable route planning process. We are involved at the initial feasibility stage offering our expertise at the desk based and environmental field assessment level to highlight a number of potentially suitable routes. By taking into account grid connection potential, the offshore sediment and geological state and the marine environmental and social constraints of these potential routes, we further refine potential route options throughout the process. Through a comprehensive regime of stakeholder engagement at every stage of the process we strive to balance the competing demands of a multitude of marine users to ultimately select the most environmentally and socially acceptable routes.
EMU is well placed to offer an unrivalled marine environmental consultancy and support package to any offshore developer, taking your ideas from inception to on site generation.
