Geotechnical Survey Services - Cone Penetration Testing
To ascertain the nature, sequence, physical and mechanical properties of the subsurface strata we use our Datem Neptune 5000 heavyweight CPT. Rated to 3000m maximum working water depth but can even be used on land, thereby taking the same equipment all the way from full ocean depths to shore break ensuring consistent quality datasets.
The Neptune 5000 CPT system is capable of penetrating up to 20m into the seabed with a thrust capacity of up to 70MPa with either 5cm2 or 10cm2 cones. It is a powerful yet compact unit and can be mobilised in a matter of hours on any capable survey vessel. As with all our equipment, it can be shipped for deployment anywhere in the world at short notice.
The data collected from the cone is recorded every millimetre of travel as it penetrates the substrate thereby providing very high resolution, quality datasets, including a minimum of tip and sleeve resistance and pore pressure. EMU also provides comprehensive CPT data analysis providing a turnkey solution for your CPT requirements.
Typical applications:
- Pipeline and cable route investigations
- Burial assessment studies
- Geotechnical site investigations for offshore structures & anchor positioning
- Pre-dredging site investigations
- Ground-truthing for geophysical surveys
